The culture of place in real time.
To document the culture of place and translate that knowledge into stories, strategies and experiences that deepen people's connection to where they are.
Place is made every day through people, rituals, memory and exchange. We work through observation, participation and respect for local knowledge — which means we show up early, stay past the interesting part, and name the people who made the thing we came to see.

Local Time Office began as a way of documenting the culture of place. Intelligence extends that work: reporting and analysis on how hospitality, retail, design and cultural spaces work, and what changes in those fields mean for the people shaping them.
We start in Los Angeles. Our analysis draws on published sources, reporting and time spent in the places we write about, and we mark the difference between what is established, what is our interpretation and what remains an open question. Every source is listed with the piece.

Write from inside the place. Notice labor, ritual, texture and contradiction.
Name people, neighborhoods, traditions and sources. Credit local knowledge.
Favor concrete nouns and active verbs. Avoid vague superlatives and tourism clichés.
Allow warmth, appetite and movement. Romantic without nostalgia; polished without distance.
